Pakistan conducted a successful training launch (May 8, 2014) of short-range surface-to-surface Ballistic Missile Hatf III (Ghaznavi), capable of delivering nuclear and conventional warheads up to a range of 290 kilometers. It signaled an upgradation of various capabilities of Weapons Systems as the statement issued by Pakistan Inter-Services Public relations (ISPR) on April 9, 2014 indicated. Pakistan successfully testfired nuclear capable Hatf-IV ballistic missile, with a range of 900 km, that can hit targets in India. Hatf-IV is also known as the Shaheen-1. Every successful launch of such missiles multiplies Pakistan’s deterrence capabilities, reducing the gap with India. It is capable of carrying nuclear and conventional
warheads to a range of 900 km. In last one year, Pakistan has
tested a wide array of missiles, from the Hatf-IX tactical missile
with a range of 60 km to the Hatf-V ballistic missile with a reach of 1, 300 km.
Pakistan has a rich range of missile including Surface-tosurface
missile, air-to-surface missiles and surface -to-air missiles.
Hatf 1 could carry payload of 500Kg (1,100 Ibs) and Hatf IV can
carry payload of 1,000 kg (2,200 Ibs). In 1989 Pakistan Army
